Wilde Tide - a place in my imagination, the coastline wherein stories, ideas and thoughts amass to finally rest like driftwood on the shore. A blog that is a promise to myself to bring more creativity into my life and I hope enjoyment into yours. I'll be writing about writing itself, its frustrations and joys; there will be general musings on the ebb and flow of life and stories about anything that inspires and creeps like sand between my toes.

A Poem for The Closet Writers Writing Group
Two weeks ago I came back to my office at the hospital and found an envelope marked personal. Inside I found messages from all of the members of our Closet Writers writing group letting me know that they had missed me and hoped that I would be able to attend more frequently. I appreciated the thoughtfulness and decided to reply with a poem.
The Closet Writers
A group that meets each Wednesday during the week
We do free-writing
That really inspires and helps technique
I've not been with my scribbler friends though the call is strong
I've let work get in the way
Even though it's where I know I belong
In my office last week a message I did receive
That let me know this friendly group
My absence they did so very grieve
My presence there each week was clearly missed
And their words brought a smile
At their reminders put down with pen & wrist
I need to put aside my work issues and cares
Come back and join the group
And fill up my empty chair
Thank you friends for your very kind report
My writing soul was warmed
And touched deeply by all of your support.

Poetry - Fifty Years Gone
Insomnia strikes me from time to time and last month was no exception. During these times I sometimes don't remember what I write and like today, I come across a file and wonder how it got there. The following was obviously inspired by my in-laws approaching 50th wedding anniversary, which was beautiful, by the way.

Two Haiku Tuesday on Saturday
Just a quick piece of work written on Two Haiku Tuesday last week-be sure to check out the blog. Theme for this week - The Doctor's Office.

A flu brings me here
Waiting to see the Doctor
“It’s nothing, relax!”
Built up in my mind
Never something that is benign
Could it be cancer?

Inspired by Blue
Blue, blue and more blue
A blue heart
It's one of my favorite colours; not one of my favorite feelings

Once in a Blue Moon
The colour of our earth & our oceans,

the colour of our sky
the way I see the world
Blue

The Wedding
OK..so I will not have written for 365 consecutive days. I did not write on Saturday, Sunday or yesterday. I've had plenty to write about however and have been writing "in my head"--its what I do when there is no way that I'm going to get to the computer or sit down with a pen in hand. Sometimes I compose prose but writing in my head often consists of quick notes or poetry like haiku.

My weekend was spent on wedding activities while battling a flu (its a good thing a friend intoduced me to Advil Cold & Sinus or I would have just curled up into a fetal positon & done nothing); we decorated the absoluting gorgeous Burnaby Rowing Club Pavillion, watched the stunning bride walk down the aisle to her albeit nervous but happy groom, had dinner at Horizon's on Burnaby Mountain & then danced the night away watching the sun set through the wall of windows overlooking the lake. It was both breathtaking and inspiring. I was inspired.
Haiku-The Wedding
Walking down the aisle
Graceful satin, pearls and lace
Tears glisten and shine
He waits straight and tall
Eyes meet with joy and wonder
Hearts open to love
Standing before God
Promises to each other
Vows said from the heart
Commitment made true
Troth bonded, gold rings entwined
Two become one flesh
Dancing at sunset
Twilight deepens, stars twinkle
In celebration
Walking together
Step by step Husband and Wife
A new life begun
